Artists have often taken refuge in the fantastic and metaphysical during times of world conflict, abandoning realism and logic and embracing the irrational and surreal.
Enchanted, Revealing the Fantastic and Metaphysical, opens November 13th and runs through December 16th at the Katherine E. Nash Gallery in the Regis Center for Art. A public reception is scheduled for Friday, November 16, from 6-8:30 p.m. Enchanted is curated by Andréa Stanislav.
The Katherine E. Nash Gallery is located in the University’s Regis Center for Art, 501 21st Avenue South, Minneapolis, on the U of M’s West Bank Campus. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am – 7 pm. All events are free and open to the general public. Parking is available in the 21st Avenue Ramp.
The exhibition offers an international group of artists -- including the fantastical works of Hawaiian artist Scott Yoell and Canadian Jean-René Leblanc and the dream worlds/mythologies of Londoner Isha Bøhling, and New Yorker Erica Yeomans. New work by Twin Cities artists Chris Larson, Alexa Horochowski, and Erik Ullanderson will resonate with Minnesotans.
