Out of the Comfort Zone

The Katherine E. Nash Gallery is pleased to present one of the most unusual faculty exhibitions in the history of the Department of Art. Titled OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE, this exhibition presents work by faculty outside their usual media. The exhibition opens September 4 and runs through October 4, 2007. A public reception has been scheduled for Friday, September 14, 2007. All events at the Nash are free and open to the public.

Gallery hours:  Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am – 7 pm.

The Katherine E. Nash Gallery is located in the heart of the West Bank Arts Quarter at 405 21st Avenue South.  Parking is available in the 21st Avenue Ramp.

The concept behind this exhibition allows each faculty to create work that falls outside of her/his normal “modus operandi” and material familiarity.   For example, those faculty normally working on the wall will work in 3D spaces; those working digitally will work with the hand; sculptors will work in 2D media.  Photographers won’t be exhibiting photos, ceramic artists will not be presenting vessels, etc.  Each faculty member will be keeping to the theme of the exhibition, creating work out of his or her comfort zone.

Participating faculty include:

Karl Bethke, Christine Baeumler, Guy Baldwin, Thomas Cowette, Jan Estep, David Feinberg, Lynn Gray, Gary Hallman, James Henkel, Curtis Hoard, Diane Katsiaficas, Jerry Krepps, Alexis Kuhr, Thomas Lane, Lynn Lukkas, Joyce Lyon, Ali Momeni,  Clarence Morgan, Mark Pharis, Wayne Potratz, Thomas Rosem, Jenny Schmid, Andrea Stanislav, Diane Willow, Tetsuya Yamada
